The Cora Volunteer Fire Department says a reported vehicle accident Saturday night in the Whitman area turned out to be a false alarm.

WHITMAN According to a social media post by the Cora Volunteer Fire Department, crews were dispatched at 9:33 p.m. to a possible motor vehicle accident near Coalwood Avenue after an iPhone Crash Detection alert notified 911 of a potential crash.
Two crew members who were already nearby checked the area for signs of an accident. After searching the location, responders found no crash and no injured individuals.
The post says crews then asked the Logan County Emergency Operations Center to cancel incoming units.

The Cora VFD says every call is treated as a potential emergency until it can be confirmed that no danger exists.
