BILL LUSK | WVOW SPORTS WINFIELD Jared Burnette and Jake Ramey each had two hits and drove in three runs to lead Logan to an 8-0 victory over the Winfield Generals Friday evening at Winfield High School. Burnette had two single and three RBIs while Ramey had a single, double and drove in three as Logan scored five runs in the sixth inning to break open a close game. With Logan leading 1-0 in the sixth, Burnette singled to plate McCormick Ilderton with the first run of the sixth giving Logan a 2-0 lead. Burnette scored when Dawson Maynard reached on an error to make it 3-0. Ramey singled to right to score Carson Kirk and Korbin Bostic to make it 5-0 and Garrett Williamson’s single plated Maynard with the final run of the sixth. Logan added to its lead in the seventh when Burnette singled to score Aiden Slack and Cole Blankenship with the seventh and eighth runs of the evening for Logan. Joey Canterbury held Winfield to three hits through five innings. Canterbury struck out four hitters and walked one. Chad Burnette threw two innings of relief holding the Generals to one hit, walking two and recording three strikeouts. Dylan Kuhl had two hits for Winfield, who got one hit apiece from Jaxson Cunningham and Quincy Miller. Noah Bumgarner suffered the loss after allowing six runs, only two earned, on six hits in 5 2-3 innings of work. Bumgarner walked six and struck out one. Brycen Brown allowed two runs on three hits in 1-3 innings and Xavier Hensley allowed one hit and walked one in one inning of work.
