Authorities in Lincoln County estimate dozens of homes were damaged or destroyed from flooding in West Hamlin Thursday evening.
Heavy rain fall in a short timeframe caused massive runoff. All the extra water gave way for elevated streams along Route 3 and resulted in flooding.
Many houses were flooded and damaged, but several homes were destroyed. One residence had the entire front ripped off from the rest of the structure along Route 3.
Twelve residents were rescued from high water by the West Hamlin Volunteer Fire Department. No injuries were reported from the rescues
