The local community will benefit from a major food distribution event this Friday.
A tractor-trailer will arrive this Friday morning on the Logan campus bringing 1,200 boxes, weighing 30 pounds each, containing fresh produce, meat and dairy products. Distribution will begin on the Logan campus at 11am. Boxes will be distributed on the Boone campus at noon and the Wyoming campus at 12:30pm
Southern has partnered with the USDA’s Famers to Families program to make the food boxes possible. There is no income requirement to receive a box of food. Just show up to campus, provide your name and address, and drive away with a box of food. It’s that easy. Bring a friend. No need for separate cars.
Please remain in your vehicle and be mindful of COVID-19 health and safety practices.
“I feel it’s our responsibility to partner with groups that can benefit our local area,” said Dr, Pamela L. Alderman, Southern President. “Community is our middle name, and with the recent devastation of flooding that hit our region, this is coming at just the right time.”
The college’s student chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS), along with staff volunteers will assist in the distribution effort.
