Former utility clerk sentenced for stealing deposits

LOGAN A former utility clerk for the was sentenced stealing utility deposits.


According to court documents, 51-year-old Sherry Sansom, of Accoville, entered a guilty plea for falsifying accounts during her time of employment.


Sansom admitted to stealing utility payments instead of depositing them.


Funds for the Town of Man were missed for around five years because of Sansom’s actions, according to the West Virginia State Auditor’s Office that was appointed special prosecutor by the court.


Sansom was sentenced to one to ten years in prison suspended for seven years supervised probation.


Moreover, Sansom was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $166,096.79.
