Frye throws 5 TD pass, Brinegar catches 3 TD, Cooper runs for two in Scott's 55-9 win over Logan

LOGAN Matt Frye threw five touchdown passes, Carson Bringear caught three touchdowns and Preston Cooper ran for two touchdowns and Class AA No. 3 Scott defeated Logan 55-9 at Willis-Nisbett Stadium on Oct. 6.


Frye threw touchdowns of 6, 1, 2, 14 and 71 yards and completed 24 of 32 passes for 390 yards. Brinegar caught 13 passes for 225 yards and scored on receptions of 6, 1 and 71 yards while Cooper rushed for 176 yards on 17 carries and scored on runs of 1 and 4 yards.


Frye and Brinegar hooked up for a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter as Scott jumped out to a 14-0 lead.


Logan got a 29-yard field goal from Chase Hatfield with 0:36 remaining in the opening quarter to cut the deficit to 14-3 after one quarter.


Cooper scored from 1-yard out to give the Skyhawks a 20-3 lead with 7:55 in the second quarter, but Logan answered with a 34-yard touchdown pass from Adam Baisden to Julius Clancy with 3:41 to play before halftime.


Baisden completed 19 of 38 attempts for 241 yards and one touchdown but was intercepted three times. Clancy had eight receptions for 183 yards.


The Skyhawks scored twice in a 1:38 of the second quarter, Jax McCarty caught a 2-yard pass from Frye with 2:38 remaining to give Scott a 27-9 lead and Cooper scored from 4-yards out for a 34-9 lead.


Isaiah Bush had a 6-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter and Brinegar hauled in a 71-yard reception as Scott led 48-9 after three quarters.


Bush finished with seven receptions for 102 yards and Brayden Clark had a fourth quarter interception return for a touchdown.


Scott improved to 7-0 and won at Logan for the first time since a 60-34 win Nov. 7, 2014.


Cross Conn rushed for 14 yards and hauled in three receptions for 31 yards as Logan lost its fourth straight game and dropped to 1-5 on the year.
