Ga. Man Charged 2nd Degree Murder In Mingo County

A Georgia man faces a second degree murder charge following a highway killing in Mingo County.

The incident occurred Thursday at the intersection of US 119 and Route 53. Williamson Police arrested 66-year-old James Armstrong for killing Eric Sammons.

According to the complaint, Sammons used his car to block Armstrong’s semi truck at the intersection. Sammons allegedly was screaming and cursing while walking towards the driver’s side door of Armstrong’s semi.

Sammons died from a single gun shot wound to the chest.

Armstrong’s lawyer Jeffery Simpkins has claimed the shooting was in self defense.

Allegedly, the whole incident was sparked by Sammons cutting off Armstrong in traffic.

Armstrong’s cash only bond has been set at $200,000
