Governor Jim Justice declared a State of Preparedness for all 55 counties with the threat of flooding as the year ends.
The National Weather Service is warning of heavy rain after midnight Friday night and lasting through New Year’s Day and night Saturday. Moreover, a possibility of two inches or more of rains is predicted through Sunday.
The rush of water so quickly could lead to flooding and a watch is in effect for the Huntington tri-state area.
Temperatures are expected to drop Sunday increasing the chance of snow.
The State Emergency Operations Center is in communication with county agencies assurance that resources are ready deployment in the event action is necessary.
Residents in flood-prone areas are urged to stay alert to stream and creeks levels.
