NAUGATUCK Joey Gollihue scored 31 points on 12 of 21 shooting, including 4 of 10 from 3-point range as Tug Valley defeated Man 79-47 on Friday night at Tug Valley High School.
The Panthers (18-3), ranked second in Class A, led the Hillbillies 14-10 after one quarter of play before outscoring Man 53-27 in the second and third quarters to pull away for their 14th straight win.
Trace Doty had a career-high 13 points for Man (2-17), who has not won since defeating Pocahontas County, 37-33 on Jan. 28. Doty had three 3-pointer while Kaleb Mullins had 12 points and Colton Miller 11 points for the Hillbillies.
Man was 16 of 45 from the field and 4 of 16 from beyond the arc. The Hillbillies committed 24 turnovers to just four for Tug Valley.
Braydun Ferris finished with 11 points for Tug Valley who also got nine points from Parker Davis and eight from Kaden Hale.
Tug Valley will host Westside Tuesday night to close the regular season. The Panthers are the top seed in next week's Class A Region 4 Section 1 tournament and will host the winner of the play-in contest between the fourth and fifth seeded teams, which is expected to be either Van or Man.
Tolsia is the second seed and will host third seed Sherman with the winners meeting at the higher seed to determine the sectional champion.
Man returns to action Monday at home against Huntington St. Joe's and will close the regular season Friday at home against Van.
