Bill Lusk | WVOW Sports GLEN DANIEL, WVa Coach TJ Blevins and his Man High School basketball team set a number of school records in the last few years, and Wednesday evening they added to those records. Class A No. 2 Man used a 33-point second quarter to break open a one-point game to set the school record for victories in a season with a 90-62 victory over Liberty (Raleigh). The victory was Man’s 15th consecutive victory of the season and its 19th overall setting the school record for wins in a season. The previous mark of 18 was set during the 2019-20 season when the Hillbillies finished 18-6. The 15 consecutive wins is believed to be a school record as well as the 108 points Man scored in a victory over Van on Feb. 10 and the three 100-point games are believed to be a first. Aden Martin led the Hillbillies on Wednesday night with 25 points. Martin was one of Hillbillies in double figures. Caleb Blevins had 20 points and Trey Brown and Jeremiah Harless added 17 points each. Blevins, Brown and Martin combined to hit 14 of Man’s 15 3-pointers with Martin knocking down six triples for the Hillbillies. Man led 13-12 after one quarter but outscored Liberty 33-8 in the second quarter to take a 46-20 lead at halftime. Adam Drennen scored 25 points to lead the Raiders while Ethan Williams had 18 and Zach Bowman 11. Liberty (Raleigh) finishes the regular season 8-11 and will play Mingo Central (10-11) in the Class AA Region 3 Section 2 tournament on Wednesday. The winner will face top-seeded Chapmanville on March 4 in the championship. Man finished the regular season with a record of 19-2 and will await the winner of Wednesday’s Tolsia and Van game. The Hillbillies are the top seed in the Class A Region 4 Section 1 tournament and will play the winner of Wednesday’s game at 8 p.m. Thursday at Willie Akers Arena. Man 90, Liberty (Raleigh) 62
