DANVILLE Investigations continue after traffic was diverted by what officials are describing as a minor train derailment in Boone County Monday morning.


The Danville Volunteer Fire Department says the derailment happened around 3:30 a.m. Monday and temporarily closed crossings at Fourth Street near Byrnside’s Hardware and Third Street near the Marathon.


CSX says two locomotives derailed while entering the Danville Yard. No injuries were reported.


CSX crews were working at the scene Monday to reset the locomotives on the tracks. The cause of the derailment remains under investigation.
