Keith, Ferrell combine on no-hitter in Logan Little League’s 11-0 win over Pineville

LOGAN   Grayson Keith and Liam Ferrell combined on a no-hitter to lead the Logan Little League to an 11-0 win over Pineville in the West Virginia District 2 Major Little League Baseball Tournament Saturday afternoon at the Chief Logan Recreational Center.

 

Keith struck out nine and walked one in 3 1/3 innings while Ferrell struck out five in 2 2/3 innings of relief.

 

Keith also had two hits, including a double and scored two runs while Noah Harvey doubled and drove in two runs. John Wesley Albright had two hits and one RBI and Jagger Marcum had one hit and scored three times for Logan.

 

Logan will face Man Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. in one of two winner’s bracket games while Pineville will look to avoid elimination as they take on Welch at 5 p.m.

 

Logan also got one hit each from Jace Eplin, Chandler Grimmett and Kent Pritchard while Stephen Duty had one RBI.

 

Bransen Bailey walked to leadoff the third inning for Pineville’s lone base runner.

 

Nolan Green pitched four innings for Pineville, allowing five runs – one earned - with eight strikeouts.

 

Leading 1-0 after three innings, Logan broke the game open with four runs in the fourth inning. Albright scored on a passed ball, Keith had a run scoring single and scored on a wild pitch and Marcum on a passed ball.

 

Harvey added a two-run double in the fifth, scored on a wild pitch and Eplin scored on Albright’s double to extend Logan’s lead to 9-0.

 

Keith scored on a wild pitch in the sixth to make it 10-0 and Marcum scored on Duty’s ground out to extend the lead to 11-0.
