BILL LUSK | WVOW SPORTS

LOGAN Jacklyn Barnett drove in the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth inning and Morgan Cooper struck out 18 as visiting Man edged county rival Logan, 2-1, in eight innings Wednesday evening at Logan’s Bea Orr Field.

Kiersten Ellis led off the eighth with a single and was thrown out trying to advance to second base. McKinlee Cline singled to left field. Following a Morgan Cooper line out short, Cline advanced to second on Ashlee Tomblin’s single setting the stage for Barnett.

On the very first pitch, Barnett doubled to left to plate Cline with the go-ahead run as Tomblin was gunned down at the plate trying to score from first base.

Cooper retired the first batters in the bottom of the eighth before issuing a two-out walk to Madison Adams, but Cooper got Taylor Noe to fly out to Baylee Muncy in left field to end the contest.

Cooper allowed one run on three hits, walked one and struck out a season high 18 batters.

Barnett went 2-for-4 with a double, a solo home run and drove in two runs. Cline, Muncy and Tomblin each had two hits and Ellis one hit for Man.

Barnett’s home run in the top of the sixth broke a scoreless tie, but the lead was short lived as Logan’s Haylee Quick tripled down the right field and scored on a throwing error to tie the game, 1-1, after six innings.

Chloe Bryant suffered the loss in the circle for Logan after allowing two runs on nine hits in eight innings. Bryant walked one and struck out six.

Emilee Mullins and Noe each had a single for Logan.
