NAUGATUCK Tug Valley rode a 50-point first half to its sixth victory of the season Friday night defeating Man, 68-13, in the Kaydence Maynard Memorial Classic at Tug Valley High School.
MacKenzie Browning led all scorers with 16 points. Haven Deskins scored 15 and Kylie DeBoard 11 for Tug Valley.
The Lady Panthers started fast out of the gates, scoring the first 16 points before Man cracked the scoring column.
Tug Valley led 33-5 after one quarter and held a 60-7 halftime lead before outscoring the Lady Hillbillies 8-6 in the second half.
Kathryn Hall finished with eight, Bailee Hall seven, Alexis Messer four and Lilly Mounts, Maria Pilkins and Riley Porter each had two points to round out the scoring for Tug Valley, who improved to 6-2 with the win.
Coach Garrin Blankenship's Lady Hillbillies (1-6) outscored the Lady Panthers, 4-2, in the fourth quarter and were led in scoring by Megan McCoy with four points.
Braylee Thompson finished with three points, and Emilee Deel, Zoe Martin and Lorelei Staten had two each for the Lady Hillbillies.
Man, who has lost six straight since a season opening win over Van, will be back in action, Friday, January 3, when they host Tug Valley.
