CHARLESTON Charleston Catholic rallied from a late eight-point deficit, closing the game on a 14-1 run and defeat Logan 51-46 Thursday night at the Charleston Catholic Athletic Complex in a battle of Class AA ranked schools.
With the victory, fifth-ranked Charleston Catholic swept the season series from seventh-ranked Logan, and with the start of regional play just a little under a month away, the Lady Irish may have secured the top seed and a first-round bye in the seven-team Class AA Region IV regional tournament.
Addyson Amick's layup with 4:44 to play gave the seventh-ranked Lady Wildcats a 45-37 lead but Logan wouldn't score another point until Halle Crouse made one of two free throws with 15 seconds to play.
Charleston Catholic never led in the game until Molly Messer hit a 3-pointer with 3:00 to play, giving the Lady Irish a 46-45 lead.
Ali Wilcox was one of three Charleston Catholic (9-1) in double figures leading the Lady Irish with 13 points. Ilyauna Evans had 12 and Aurelia Kirby 11.
Amick led Logan (7-5) with a game-high 19 points, Crouse had 15 and Jaycee Blair eight.
