LOGAN In a release issued Thursday, Marcum said the decision follows recent changes in his personal and professional life, as well as increased family obligations. He said he remains committed to Logan County and will continue supporting students, schools and families however he can.
In the meantime, Marcum has decided to throw his backing behind another candidate for the open BOE seat, Dr. Ed White, who he said he feels could be a "great asset to the BOE."

Marcum's decision to drop out of the race comes well after the deadline. Candidates were given until February 17 to officially have their names removed from the ballot.
West Virginia's Primary Election is May 12.
