MAN Harmony Mills scored 26 points and Lacey Goodson had 23 as Independence overcame a seven-point first quarter deficit to defeat Man 68-49 Saturday afternoon, February 3, at the Man Memorial Fieldhouse.
The Class AAA co-No. 10 Lady Patriots (15-2) outscored the Lady Hillbillies 42-19 in the second and third quarters after falling behind 16-9 after one quarter of play.
Independence outscored Man 21-13 in the second quarter to take a 30-29 halftime lead and outscored the homestanding Lady Hillbillies, 21-6, in the third quarter to extend its lead to 51-35 after three quarters.
Megan McCoy finished with 17 points for the Lady Hillbillies (1-12), who have lost seven straight games. Jace Baisden added 14 points and Jenna Baisden finished with 11 points.
Alli Hypes contributed seven points, Maci Perry had five, Zoey Bragg scored three and Jessica Vandall and Kamryn Wooten each had two points for Independence, who has won five straight and 11 of its last 12 games.
Braylee Thompson finished with four points and Lexiegh Vanover had three points to round out the scoring for the Lady Hillbillies.
