MADISON Cambri Barker held the Logan Lady Wildcats to one run to force a winner-take-all game Thursday evening for the Class AA Region 4 Section 2 championship.
The winner of Thursday's evening game will win the sectional championship and host game one of a best of three Region 4 championship series starting May 19.
Caitlyn Esbrandt scored on a passed ball and Reagan Williams had a squeeze bunt to drive in the go-ahead run in the fourth inning of the seventh-ranked Lady Skyhawks 2-1 win over top-ranked Logan Wednesday evening at Lick Creek Park.
Barker allowed seven hits, struck out six and walked two in seven innings for the Lady Skyhawks (17-12).
Logan, who jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning when courtesy runner Daisy Tomblin scored on an error, loaded the bases top of the fifth but failed to push across the game tying and go-ahead runs.
Lady Wildcats (19-6) starting pitcher Myleigh Adkins allowed two runs on four hits while striking out eight and walking two in six innings of work in the circle.
Adkins had two of Logan's seven hits while Ashlin Brumfield, Lacy Curry, Emille Mullins, Lena Setser and Addison Richardson each had one hit.
Hailey Capps had a double and Beard, Esbrandt and Ava Sampson each had one hit for the Lady Skyhawks.
Scott, who rebounded from Tuesday's 10-2 run-ruled loss to Logan in the sectional opener, is one win away from winning its fourth sectional championship in five years.
Just one more game, one more win, and Logan will be back in the regional tournament for the first time in 10 years. The Lady Wildcats won the Class AAA Region 4 Section 2 championship in 2015.
