CHAPMANVILLE On the strength of a seven-run fourth inning, Chapmanville avenged an early season loss to county rival and Class AA No. 3 Logan, defeating the Lady Wildcats, 12-5, Tuesday evening at Ronnie "Mule" Ooten Field.

The Lady Wildcats defeated the Lady Tigers, 5-0, on April 6 and early on it would appear that they were on their way to a season sweep of Chapmanville, leading 5-1 after two innings.

The lady Tigers plated three runs in the third to pull within one run, 5-4, and took a 6-5 lead on Emma Muncy's two-run double in fourth inning.

Muncy's double was just the start of big things to come for Chapmanville as Hannah Miller scored on an error to make it 7-5, then Brooke Christian added a sacrifice fly to increase the lead to 8-5.

Erica Sigmon produced a run-scoring single for a 9-5 lead and Chloe Murphy put the finishing touches on a seven-run fourth inning with a two-run home run to give the Lady Tigers a 11-5 lead.

That would be plenty of run support for Murphy, who took over for LaTosha Perry to start the third inning after Logan plated five runs on six hits in two innings.

Murphy allowed one hit, walked one and struck out 10 in five innings of relief to earn the win inside the circle for Chapmanville.

Erin Adkins added a run-scoring single in the sixth to extend the lead to 12-5.

Lakin Parks hit a solo home run in the first inning to stake Chapmanville out to an early 1-0 lead, however, that lead was short lived as Logan plated five runs in the second inning to take a 5-1 lead.

Ashlin Brumfield started the scoring with double to knot the score at 1 and Isabella Propst drove in a run to give Logan a 2-1 lead.

The Lady Wildcats went ahead 3-1 on Emilee Mullins' RBI groundout and Taylor Noe had a two-run home run to extend the margin to four runs, 5-1, after two complete innings.

Chapmanville closed the gap to 5-4 with a three-run third inning as Miller scored on an error and Muncy and Christian scored on a ground out.

Logan starting pitcher Shae Conley gave up 12 runs on six hits, struck out six and walked five in six innings. Ten of the Lady Tigers 12 runs were unearned as Logan committed five errors in the field.

Noe had a two-run home and Ashlin Brumfield an RBI double for Logan. Propst had one hit and one RBI and Mullins drove in a run for the Lady Wildcats, who also got hits from Myleigh Adkins, Addi Brumfield, Lacy Curry and Harlee Quick.

Murphy drove in two runs with her two-run home run and Parks had a solo home run for Chapmanville. Sigmon had one hit and three RBIs, Muncy one hit and two RBIs and Adkins one hit and one RBI. Evy Altizer had one hit, Christian drove in a run and Miller scored two runs for Chapmanville.

Logan (13-6) has lost three of its last five games while Chapmanville (11-4) won for the eighth time in its last 10 games.
