Lady Tigers hold Winfield to a season low 30 points

WINFIELD Class AA No. 10 Chapmanville held Winfield to a season low 30 points, outscoring the Lady Generals 29-11 in the second half to erase a four-point halftime deficit on its way to a 44-30 victory Saturday afternoon at Winfield High School.


Alaira Evans scored 11 of her game-high 22 points in the fourth quarter as the Lady Tigers outscored the Lady Generals 21-7 to break a 33-all tie.


Chapmanville (13-7 overall, 8-3 Cardinal Conference) won for the third straight time while Winfield (11-9 overall, 7-4 Cardinal Conference) lost for the second consecutive game and has dropped three of its last five games.


Miranna Oglesby led Winfield with 12 points. Kaitlyn Sayre added nine points for the Lady Generals, who led 19-15 at halftime.


Jaycee Blair finished with 10 points for Chapmanville. Brooke Christian and Chloe Thompson each had six points for the Lady Tigers.


Winfield was scheduled to host Class AAA No. 4 Ripley on Tuesday before closing out the regular season Wednesday evening at home against Sissonville.


Chapmanville returns to action Wednesday night at home against AA No. 7 Charleston Catholic. The Lady Tigers will close the regular season on the road at Greenbrier East on Saturday.
