Lady Tigers improve to 10-4 following mercy rule win over Sissonville

CHAPMANVILLE The Lady Tigers got the job done in the circle and at the plate Thursday evening in an 8-0 five-inning mercy rule victory over the Sissonville Lady Indians.


LaTosha Perry pitched five shutout innings allowing six hits and two strikeouts to pick up the win in the circle for Chapmanville.


Brooke Christian hit a two-run home run while Emma Muncy had a solo home run, a double, one RBI and scored two runs to lead the way for the Lady Tigers (9-4) at the plate. Laken Parks went 2 for 3 with a double, one RBI and two runs scored and Erin Adkins and Chloe Murphy each went 2 for 3 and drove in a run for Chapmanville.


Emma Lester allowed eight runs on 11 hits in 4 1/3 innings for the Lady Indians.


Albany Anastasio was 2 for 2 at the plate for Sissonville (5-6), who also got singles from Abigail and Autumn Bailey, Makynli Berrier and Allyson Jarrett.


Evy Altizer and Erica Sigmon each had a double for Chapmanville.


Herbert Hoover 9, Chapmanville 8 (8 Innings)- Kristin Wehrle's three-run double in the bottom of the eighth inning gave Herbert Hoover a come-from-behind 9-8 walk-off win over Chapmanville Tuesday night at Elkview.


Wehrle's one out double erased an 8-6 Chapmanville lead scoring Abby Hanson, Sydney Bright and Ayva Veltri with the winning runs to give the four-time reigning Class AA champion and sixth-ranked Lady Huskies (8-5) their eighth win of the season and wins in three of their last four games.


Chapmanville's Laken Parks reached on an error allowing Hannah Miller to score breaking a 6-6 tie in the seventh to give the Lady Tigers a 7-6 lead. Erica Sigmon added a run-scoring triple to give Chapmanville an 8-6 lead.


Laila Varney got the win in relief for Herbert Hoover. Varney allowed three unearned runs on three hits and struck out one in 2 1/3 innings. Starting pitcher Hannah Shamblin allowed one run on five hits while walking one and striking out one in four innings in the circle and Josi Fix allowed four runs - one earned - on five hits in 1 2/3 innings for the Lady Huskies.


Chloe Murphy suffered the loss for Chapmanville after allowing four run on 13 hits with four strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings. LaTosha Perry started in the circle for the Lady Tigers and allowed five runs on six hits while walking one and striking out one in 1 2/3 innings.


Bright had four hits, two doubles, drove in three runs and scored three times for Herbert Hoover. Wehrle had three hits including a double and drove in three runs while Sydney Shamblin had two hits to go along with two RBIs and Varney one hit and one RBI.


Fix, Brooklyn Huffman and Sadi Wehrle each had two hits and Hannah Shamblin one hit to round out the Lady Huskies 19 hit attack.


Brooke Christian had three hits including a pair of doubles and drove in a run while Emma Muncy had three hits and an RBI for Chapmanville. Sigmon had two hits, one of which a triple and drove in two runs and Parks had two hits and two RBIs for the Lady Tigers.


Miller had two hits including a double and Murphy had a double for Chapmanville, who had 13 hits in the game.
