Lady Tigers rally from seven down, defeat county rival Logan in double overtime, 57-50

CHAPMANVILLE   Jaycee Blair scored 17 points, Haley Fleming added 13 and Jaiden Mahon had 12 as Class AA No. 8 Chapmanville Regional defeated county rival Logan 57-50 in double overtime Thursday night at Danny Godby Gymnasium.

 

Trailing 40-34 with under two minutes to play, the Lady Tigers closed on a 6-0 run to force overtime.

 

In the first overtime, Logan led 46-43 before Chapmanville scored four unanswered points to go ahead 47-46 following a pair of Fleming free throws.

 

Peyton Butcher was fouled and made one of two free throws with 0:13 seconds remaining to tie it at 47 and send the game to a second overtime.

 

In the second overtime, Blair knocked down a pair of 3-pointers to start a 6-0 Lady Tigers run. Logan never recovered and was outscored 10-3 in the second extra session as the Lady Tigers pulled away for its second victory of the season.

 

Logan led by three at halftime and led 37-30 when Halle Crouse beat the third quarter buzzer with a jumper.

 

Crouse led Logan with a game high of 19 points and Addyson Amick added 17 points for the Lady Wildcats.

 

Ava Albright chipped in with six points, Jayden Meade scored five, Bam Mosby two and Butcher one point for Logan.

 

Alaira Evans, making her return from an ankle injury suffered during volleyball, scored six points in limited action for the Lady Tigers, who also got five points from Brooke Christian and four from Daizi Farley.

 

Logan (1-2) travels to Lincoln County on Monday night while Chapmanville (2-1) will travel to Wayne Tuesday to face the Class AAA No. 2 Lady Pioneers.
