SISSONVILLE Addison Brumfield stole home in the sixth inning breaking a 1-1 tie and Isabella Propst singled to drive in another run as part of a two-run sixth as Class AA No. 2 Logan ended the regular season with a 4-2 win at Sissonville Thursday night.
Brumfield was 3-for-3 with one RBI and Propst was 2-for-4 with one RBI for Logan. Harlee Quick went 1-for-3 with a solo home run as the Lady Wildcats closed the regular season with a 22-7 record. The victory also snapped Sissonville’s six-game winning streak.
The second-ranked Lady Wildcats will be the second seed in the Class AA Region 4 Section 2 tournament and will open sectional tournament play Tuesday night at Wayne High School against third seed and county rival Chapmanville, who is ranked ninth in Class AA.
Scott is the top seed and will play the winner of Monday’s game between fourth seed Wayne and fifth seed Mingo Central.
Myleigh Adkins tossed a complete game in the circle to earn the win. Adkins allowed two unearned runs on four hits, struck out 12 and walked two in seven innings.
Autumn Bailey was the losing pitcher for Sissonville (11-8) after allowing three runs on three hits in 1 1/3 innings of relief. Emma Lester started and tossed five innings for the Lady Indians in the circle. Lester allowed one run on six hits, struck out three and walked one.
Alexa Asbury had one hit and one RBI and Albany Anastasio, Bailey and Kya Hampton each had one hit for Sissonville.
Adkins, Taylor Noe and McKenna Ooten each had one hit for the Lady Wildcats.
