Lady Wildcats closes fourth strong, avenges earlier season loss to Ripley

LOGAN   Logan (10-9) finished strong, closing the game on an 8-2 run to defeat Class AAA No. 7 Ripley 44-37 Thursday night at the Willie Akers Arena.

 

Halle Crouse hit a runner off the glass with 2:43 remaining, giving the Lady Wildcats a 37-35 lead. Crouse made just two field goals, but was 10 of 10 from the free throw line and finished with 14 points.

 

Logan reeled off the next six points before Ripley got a pair of late free throws.

 

Ripley ended the first half on a 12-4 run and lead 19-12 at halftime before Logan scored the first seven points of the third quarter to tie it at 19.

 

Logan trailed 23-21, but the Lady Wildcats closed the third quarter on a 7-2 run and led 28-25 after three quarters.

 

Erin Ryan led Ripley (11-10) with 15 points and Sophie Nichols finished with 12 points.

 

Addyson Amick and Kinley Steele each had nine points for Logan, who was 15 of 18 from the free throw line.
