WINFIELD Freshman Gabby Canterbury scored 11 points, Kaitlyn Sayre added 10 points and Winfield outscored Class AAA No. 7 Logan 9-5 in overtime Tuesday for a 42-38 victory at Winfield High School.
Sayre scored seven of Winfield's nine fourth quarter points to help the Lady Generals force overtime. The junior scored three points in overtime and Canterbury was a perfect 4 for 4 from the free throw line in the extra frame.
Sayre's basket with 2:18 to play tied the game at 33 as Logan held for the final shot, however, a 3 from Autumn Adkins was off the mark sending the game into overtime.
Bam Mosby scored 12 points and Halle Crouse finished with 11 for Logan, who was held without a field goal in overtime.
Winfield (3-5) will return to action Tuesday evening at county rival Hurricane while Logan (4-5) will host the Wildcat Classic Premiere Hoops Showcase on Friday and Saturday at the Willie Akers Arena.
The Wildcats will host Class AAAA Musselman on Friday at 9 p.m. and then host Class AAA No. 4 North Marion and player of the year candidate Olivia Toland at 7 p.m. Saturday.
