Lady Wildcats suffer first loss to two-time reigning sectional champ Scott

MADISON Logan suffered its first loss of the season Wednesday, falling to two-time reigning Class AA Region 4 Section 2 champion Scott 4-1.


Hailey Capps scored on a passed ball in the first inning to give Scott a 1-0 lead. Four pitches later, Dailan Adkins delivered a run-scoring single to give the Lady Skyhawks a 2-0 lead after one inning.


Logan got a run in the third inning when Harlee Quick singled to bring Logan within one run, 2-1, however, Scott plated two unearned runs in the bottom of third inning to take a 4-1 lead.


That was more than enough run support for Tatum Halley, who allowed just one run on four hits and struck out eight in five innings of work in the circle for the Lady Skyhawks.


Cambri Barker pitched the final two innings to earn the save after allowing just one hit and recording two strikeouts.


Adkins had a run scoring single and Hannah Price a run scoring double for Scott, who also got hits from Capps, Kayleigh Ellis, Natalie Green and Alyssa Shultz.


Adkins had two hits and Addison Brumfield had two hits including a triple for Logan. Quick had one hit and one RBI and Taylor Noe added a single for the Lady Wildcats.


Shae Conley suffered the loss, giving up four runs – two earned – on five hits in four innings. She struck out seven and walked two. Adkins allowed one hit in two innings of relief. Adkins struck out two and walked one.


Scott (5-0) will host Sissonville on Friday while Logan (3-1) will host four-time reigning Class AA champion Herbert Hoover.
