Lady Wildcats Win Sectional Opener Over Lady Skyhawks 60-37


Bill Lusk | WVOW Sports LOGAN, WVa Halle Crouse was one of three Logan players in double figures as the Class AAA third-ranked Wildcats opened Class AAA Region 4 Section 2 tournament play with a 60-37 win over Scott Tuesday night at Willie Akers Arena. Logan, the top seed in the section, will host AAA No. 5 and second-seeded Wayne Friday night for the sectional championship. A win Friday and Logan will host one of two Region 4 championship games on March 1. Crouse had 14 points while Natalie Blankenship scored 13 and Peyton Ilderton 11 for the Lady Wildcats. Haven Tomblin had 14 for Scott, who ends the season a 3-18 record. Logan improves to 20-2 with the victory. Logan and Wayne will face each other for the third time this season. The Lady Wildcats and Lady Pioneers split the season series with each team winning on the others homecourt. Wayne defeated Logan 49-39 on Jan. 19 at Willie Akers Arena while Logan defeated Wayne 54-46 on Feb. 8 at Wayne High School. The Lady Pioneers defeated Lincoln County to advance to Friday’s sectional championship. Wayne, who entered the tournament losing three of its last four games to close the regular season, was the last team to defeat Logan, who has now won 10 straight games.
