Lady Wildcats win third straight to start season

LOGAN Logan extended its season opening winning streak to three games with a 9-1, six-inning victory over Poca Tuesday evening at Bea Orr Field.


Harlee Quick made her first start of the season in the circle for the Lady Wildcats, scattering five hits and allowing just one run in a complete game performance. Quick struck out six and walked just one and helped her cause at the plate adding two hits and driving in three runs.


Laci Curry was a perfect 3 for 3 at the dish for Logan. Curry had two singles and hit a walk off three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to give the Lady Wildcats their second straight mercy rule victory.


Logan pounded out 11 hits in the win. Taylor Noe had two hits and one RBI, Makenna Ooten finished with one hit and one RBI and Myleigh Adkins, Addison Brumfield and Addison Richardson each had one hit. Emilee Mullins drove in one run for the Lady Wildcats.


Logan (3-0) scored four runs in the first, one in the third and four in the sixth inning while Poca scored its lone run in the top of the sixth.


Lilly Grady had two hits for Poca. Lindzie Runions had one hit and drove in one run while Klaire LeRose and Kamryn Starcher each had one hit for the Lady Dots (0-1).


Kendra Dunbar suffered the loss after allowing nine runs on eight hits in five innings. Dunbar struck out three and walked one.
