Lincoln County man pleads guilty to federal meth charge

CHARLESTON A Lincoln County man pleaded guilty in federal court to drug crime.


51-year-old James Evans Hughes, of Sumerco, pleaded guilty Tuesday, March fifth to distributing methamphetamine, according to a press release from the US Attorney Office for the Southern District West Virginia.


According to documents and statements made in federal court, on june 28, 2018, Hughes admitted to selling meth to a confidential informant in South Charleston back in june of 2018. He also and admitted to selling meth to the confidential informant on seven other occasions between July 2018 and November 2018.


Hughes sentencing set for June eleventh and faces a maximum penalty of twenty years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of $1 million.
