Lincoln County Schools to unify all Duvall Prek - 8 students

WVOW News

LINCOLN COUNTY The West Virginia Board of Education recently approved an amendment for facility plans in Lincoln County.

The amendment was requested by the Lincoln County Board of Education to unify all Duvall Pre-K to 8 students into the central office facility until the new Duval/Midway school is constructed.

Currently, Duval Pre-K through second grade students are located in portable classrooms at the old Duval site. Grades third through fifth students are at Hamlin Pre-K facility and grades sixth through eighth grade students are at the central office facility.

The was deemed structurally unsafe and forced students to be transported to three different schools for the current school year.

According to the state board of education, the action enables Duval Pre-K to 8 to operate in a more traditional school environment and allows the county to provide the necessary student services and supervision more efficiently.

The next meeting of the state board of education is Wednesday, June 8, 2022.
