A local artist, musician and businessman in Logan County passed away recently.
William “Bill” Williamson, also known as “The Piano Man” died on Sunday, August 1 after an extended illness. Bill was 80-years-old.
At age 16, Bill survived a dynamite accident. Once he recovered from his injuries, he decided to study music. Bill studied and mastered the art of Piano Tuning and Technical Repair at Romney School for the Deaf and Blind in Romney, WV.
He served the Tri-State for 56 years, tuning instruments by ear always to perfection. His trade and friendly demeanor earned him the moniker “The Piano Man.”
As the blood legacy of Ervin Williamson of The Williamson Brothers, he will live on forever in the American Epic Documentary, telling his father’s story of pioneering recorded music in America for generations to come. A celebration of his life will be conducted on Monday, August 9, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel in Chapmanville, WV with Reverend Curtis Gibson of Abundant Life Ministries officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, WV. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, August 8th, 2021 at Evans Funeral Home in Chapmanville, WV.
