LOGAN The initial West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities Commission ratings were released Tuesday afternoon and three Logan County schools are ranked in their respective classifications.
Logan, who is off to a 3-0 start with wins over county rival Man and Cardinal Conference foes Sissonville and Wayne, is ranked eighth in Class AA while Chapmanville, who has defeated Sissonville and Poca and has a loss to Winfield, is tied for 15th with Clay County in Class AA.
Man, who lost to Logan in its season opener has wins over Mount View and Westside. Is currently ranked 15th in Class A.
The Scott Skyhawks are ranked seventh in Class AA and Mingo Central is ranked 18th while Tug Valley and Van are tied for second in Class A.
Scott, Logan and Chapmanville are three of six Cardinal Conference members ranked in top 20 of Class AA. Nitro and Winfield are tied for 11th with Herbert Hoover 20th.
Martinsburg tops Class AAA while Frankfort and Fairmont Senior share the top spot in Class AA and Wheeling Central is first in Class A.
The WVSSAC ratings are released every Tuesday afternoon beginning in the fourth week of the season, leading up to the final week where the top 16 teams in each class qualify for the playoffs.
