Logan County Schedule Preview: Same schedule, same expectations for Wildcats in 2026

LOGAN Coming off an impressive 8-3 season and a Class AA playoff berth,
the Logan High School Wildcats will enter the new season with the same
schedule and same expectations as a season ago.
The same 10 teams that the Wildcats played last season are back on this
year’s schedule for the 2026 season that saw the Wildcats win their first six
games of the season, finish the regular season 8-2, earning a 12 th place finish
in the final West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission Class AA
ratings and a first-round playoff berth with fifth-ranked Doddridge County.
Logan was defeated 52-7 by the Bulldogs, who made a run to the Class AA
semifinals before bowing out to eventual Class AA champion Frankfort.
This season, Logan would like nothing more than to return to the postseason,
but the Wildcats would like to make history and win the school’s first ever
playoff game.
With five road games and five home dates on the slate, Logan will have little
room for error especially if the Wildcats hope to compete for another playoff
berth, host a third ever home playoff game at Willis-Nisbet Stadium and make
a deep postseason run in Class AA.
Logan opens the season August 27 at home against the Man Hillbillies, giving
the Wildcats an opportunity to start the year on a strong note in front of their
home crowd in the annual Lions Club Bowl.
The Wildcats hit the road September 4 to face the River View Raiders, before
returning home September 11 for a matchup with the Tug Valley Panthers.
Logan then travels to take on the Wayne Pioneers on September 18.
After a week off, the Wildcats begin a demanding stretch of the schedule with
three consecutive road games. Logan visits the Clay County Panthers on
October 2 and the Scott Skyhawks on October 9 before returning to action
against the Mingo Central Miners on October 16.
The rivalry portion of the schedule takes center stage October 23, when
Logan travels to face county rival Chapmanville. The Tigers are coming off a
Class AAA semifinal appearance and have won 11 of the last 12 games
against the Wildcats.
The Wildcats close out the regular season with two home games. Logan
welcomes the St. Albans Red Dragons to Willis-Nisbet Stadium on October 30
before finishing the regular season November 6 against the Westside
Renegades.
