Logan Defeats Lincoln County, 73-43, Wins 20th Game

HAMLIN, WVa Four Wildcats scored in double figures as Class AAA No. 2 Logan defeated Lincoln County 73-43 Saturday afternoon at Lincoln County High School to earn their 20th win of the season.

Logan trailed 18-16 after one quarter, but outscored Lincoln County, 23-8, in the second quarter to take 39-26 lead at halftime. Logan outscored Lincoln County 15-9 in the third quarter and led 54-35 after three.

Jackson Tackett led the way with 12 points. Tackett was one of four Wildcats in double figures. Scotty Browning, Julius Clancy and Garrett Williamson each had 11 points. Williamson finished one assist and two rebounds shy of a triple-double finishing with nine assists and eight rebounds.

Logan shot 54.4% from the field (31 for 57) with five 3-pointers and was 9 of 13 from the free throw line.

Cameron Blevins and Jackson Sanders led Lincoln County with 11 points with Sawyer Tomblin adding 10.

Lincoln County shot 32% from the field (16 for 50) and made seven 3-pointers. The Panthers were outrebounded 42-21 and committed 14 turnovers while the Wildcats committed just seven turnovers.

Logan won its 20th game for the first time since the 2018-19 season to close out the regular season with a 20-2 record. Lincoln County, who has lost 12 of its last 14 games, closed out the regular season with a 6-16 record.

The same two teams will meet in the opening round of the Class AAA Region 4 Section 2 tournament on Monday at 7 p.m. at Willie Akers Arena. Logan is the top-seed while Lincoln County is seeded fourth.

The winner of Monday’s game with face the winner of second seed Scott and third seed Wayne. If Logan wins, they will host the sectional championship on Friday while a Lincoln County victory would send them to either Scott or Wayne.
