Logan Defeats Nitro For Fourth Straight Win

In high school basketball action, the Logan Wildcats won their fourth straight game to move to 6-3 on the season, as they defeated the Nitro Wildcats 51-42 last night at Willie Akers Arena to drop Nitro to 6-2 on the year.

Logan dug themselves an early hole as Nitro blitzed Logan to an early 16-4 lead, and taking an 18-10 lead after the first quarter of play. That was when Logan's defense clamped down on Nitro and held them to five second-quarter points, as Logan closed the gap to 23-19 at halftime.

Logan continued their charge in the third quarter, as they took their first lead of the game and held a 32-29 edge heading into the fourth quarter. Nitro was unable to get their high powered offense going against Logan's vaunted defense, as Logan's Garrett Williamson held Nitro's prolific scorer Kolton Painter to 14 points for the game, five of which came after the first quarter, and Logan pulled away down the stretch for a 51-42 win. Logan was led by junior Jarron Glick, who closed the game with 14 points in the victory.

Logan will get back into action on Monday when they host the undefeated Man Hillbillies. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
