Logan golf opens with tri-match win over St. Albans, Riverside

Logan senior Alton Ellis led the way as the Wildcats opened the season with a victory at Little Creek Country Club. Ellis earned medalist honors with a low round of 42, helping Logan claim an eight-shot win in the tri-match.

SOUTH CHARLESTON   The Logan High School golf team opened the

season Wednesday afternoon with a season opening win in a tri-match at the

Little Creek Country Club.

Logan’s Alton Ellis topped the leader board firing a low round of 42 to claim

individual medalist honors and led Logan to an eight-shot win over St. Albans

and Riverside.

Logan finished the tri-match with a team total of 177 while St. Albans finished

second with a 185. Riverside, with two individual golfers, finished the day 38

shots over par.

Ellis, a senior, finished two shots better than teammate Kevin Farmer, a senior

who carded a 42 and tied for second place honors with St. Albans senior

Josiah Cochran.

Logan junior Carson Hale shot a 45 to finish fourth and senior teammate Crew

Blankenship and St. Albans senior Blake Hermansdorfer shared fifth place

honors with a round of 46.

A pair of Red Dragons, Tanner Adkins and Grayson Parr, tied for seventh

after firing a 47. Tristan Parr of St. Albans was ninth with a 48 and Logan’s

Chase Butcher rounded out the top 10 with a round of 49.

Logan returns to the links Monday afternoon in a quad match at the Logan

County Club with Chapmanville, Scott and Sherman.
