LOGAN Ryah Boyd ripped a single to left field, scoring Maecee Pruitt from
third to give the Logan Little League a 2-1 walk-off win over Man Little League
in the semifinals of the West Virginia Little League Softball State Tournament
at the Chief Logan Recreational Center.
The win sends Logan to Wednesday’s state championship at 7:00 p.m.
against Moorefield, a 3-2 walk off winner over Lincoln County in Tuesday’s
other semifinal matchup.
The loss marked Man’s second defeat to Logan in 15 days. Logan defeated
Man, 9-1, on June 22 to win the West Virginia Little League District 2
championship.

Man led Logan 1-0 after Madison Ellis’ run scoring single in the fourth inning
before Logan tied the game in the fifth.
Maryona Clemens doubled to centerfield to start the fifth and came around to
score on a one out single off the bat of Harlea Abraham.
Locked in a classic pitcher’s duel, Man starting pitcher Myleigh Daniels and
Logan’s Abraham, matched each other pitch for pitch through six innings
before giving way to relief pitchers due to Little League’s six innings rule.
Daniels allowed one run on two hits, struck out six, walked two and hit a batter
in six innings in the circle for Man. Logan’s Abraham allowed one run on two
hits, struck out seven and walked one in six innings.
Boyd picked up the win in relief for Logan after walking one in one inning of
work. Carly Grimmett suffered the tough-luck loss for Man after allowing one
run on one hit and two walks in 2/3 innings.
Ellis finished the game 1-for-3 with one RBI to lead Man at the plate, while
Chaelstin Moore was 1-for-2 and Daniels scored Man’s lone run.
Abraham was 1-for-2 with one RBI and Boyd 1-for-3 with one RBI to lead
Logan at the plate. Clemens was 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored while
Pruitt crossed the plate once for Logan.
Logan will look for its second state championship in four years with a win over
Moorefield. Logan won the state championship in 2023 defeating the Hite
Saunders Little League, 2-0, in Barboursville.
Wednesday’s winner will represent West Virginia in the Little League
Southeast Region in Warner Robins, Georgia.
West Virginia will join state champions from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North
Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia at Little League Southeast
Park on July 17.
