Logan man charged with third degree sex abuse


LOGAN A Logan man is charged with third-degree sexual abuse.


According to a criminal complaint filed in Logan County Magistrate Court, 57-year-old Walter Fowler is accused of inappropriately touching a fourteen-year-old girl.


The victim’s father told City of Logan Senior Patrolman A.L. Bias the incident occurred at the New Covenant Fellowship Church on Kanada Street in early June.


According to the complaint, Fowler is accused of touching the victim’s thighs, hips and stomach. The complaint further alleges Fowler lifted the victim’s shirt and “told her to go for older men.” Moreover, Fowler is accused of slapping the victim’s backside while walking up steps.


Fowler is charged with third degree sexual abuse. Bond was set at $8,000 10% cash or surety.


Third-degree sexual abuse is a misdemeanor and if convicted Fowler could face up to ninety days in jail, a $500 fine or both.
