Logan’s Albright no-hits Lady Miners; Man’s Cooper tosses one-hitter at Westside

LOGAN Charlie Albright struck out 10 and walked two, pitching a five-inning no-hitter in Logan’s 9-0 victory over Mingo Central Tuesday afternoon at Bea Orr Field.


Emma Elkins hit a three-run home run, doubled, and scored three runs while Albright helped her own cause at the plate with a double and three RBIs for Logan (6-9).


Logan scored two runs in first, one in the second and six more in the third.


Isabella Propst had two hits including a double and one RBI and Lacy Curry had two hits for Logan, who also got a double from Chloe Bryant and singles from Hannah Maynard, Emilee Mullins and Harlee Quick.


Ava Williams picked up the loss after allowing nine runs on 11 hits with three strikeouts and two walks in four innings of work.


Williams reached base twice for Mingo Central. She drew a walk in the first inning and was hit by a pitch in the fourth inning. Mack Hammond walked in the first and Kierra Workman reached on an error in the fourth for the Lady Miners.


Mingo Central (3-9) is scheduled to travel to Van Thursday night.


Logan will host Winfield Friday afternoon at Bea Orr Field.


Man 15, Westside 0 (3 innings)


CLEAR FORK Morgan Cooper tossed a three-inning one-hitter as Man won at Westside 15-0 Thursday evening.


It was Cooper’s third one-hitter of the season and 11th of her career.


Cooper struck out seven and walked one and had two hits including a double and one RBI at the plate for the Lady Hillbillies.


Lauren Hannah walked in the second inning and Hannah Blankenship singled with two outs in the third inning to break up Cooper’s bid for her second no-hitter of the season.


On March 22, Cooper tossed a perfect game against Westside striking out all 15 batters she faced in a 10-0 Man victory.


Jacklyn Barnett had two doubles, drove in two and scored three runs to lead Man at the plate as Trista Marcum and Ashlee Tomblin each had two hits and drove in two runs. Kaylee Hicks had a hit and drove in one run for the Lady Hillbillies.


Baylee Muncy drove in two runs while Kiersten Ellis had one RBI and scored three runs and McKinlee had one RBI and two runs scored for the victors.


Westside (2-7) is scheduled to host Independence on Thursday.


Man (7-1) will return to action at Sherman on April 26.
