Logan woman pleads guilty to misappropriation of postal funds

CHARLESTON A Logan County woman pleaded guilty Wednesday to misappropriation of postal funds.


According to a press release from the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia, 31-year-old Brittany Ellis, of Blair, admitted to stealing approximately $4,486.45 while she was an employee of the United States Postal Service at the Blair Post Office. The money was collected from the sale of money orders between October and December 2018.


United States Attorney Will Thompson announced the guilty plea and commended the work of the United States Postal Service Office of the Inspector General for their assistance in the investigation.


United States District Judge Joseph R. Goodwin presided over the hearing. Assistant United States Attorney Ryan Blackwell is prosecuting the case.


Ellis is scheduled to be sentenced on July 11, 2022, and faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
