Man Defeats Tolsia Wed. Night, 72-38



In high school basketball action, the Man Hillbillies opened their season as defending state champions with a 72-38 wire to wire win over sectional rival Tolsia Wednesday night at Man.


The Hillbillies jumped all over the Rebels at the beginning and raced out to a 17-0 lead. Tolsia was held without a point for the first seven minutes and twenty seconds of the contest. Man would go on to lead 36-11 at the half, and leading wire to wire.


Man was aided by eight three-pointers in the game. Senior Trey Brown hit four of his own from downtown to finish with a game-high 17 points for the game in his Hillbilly debut.


Man was also helped by 14 points from Aiden Martin and 13 points by James Scites in the win.


The Hillbillies will get back into action on Friday night when they travel to Chapmanville to take part in the Bob Runyon Memorial Holiday Tournament. Man will play against Eastlake, Ky. at 7 p.m. while host Chapmanville will take on the Mount View Golden Knights at 8:30 p.m. Both games will broadcast on WVOW Radio. Coverage begins at 6:50 p.m.
