First-degree murder charges pressed against a Danville man for allegedly killing his father.
According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were responding to accident on US 119 Saturday afternoon when 42-year-old Jeremy Scott Bennett told deputies he killed his father.
Deputies went to the home of Ray Bennett’s on Arden Lane and found the man dead with two gunshot wounds.
After the killing, Jeremy Scott Bennett left the scene in his father’s car. According to the complaint filed in Boone County Magistrate Court, the son allegedly emptied the father’s wallet before he absconded with the vehicle
Bennett was involved in a crash at Bradley Road and 119 a short time later.
Deputies arrested Jeremy Scott Bennett and transported him to the Southwestern Regional Jail in Holden.
