Man's Cooper no-hits Sherman, strikes out 17 in win over Point Pleasant

MAN Man High School senior Morgan Cooper tossed her sixth career no-hitter Wednesday evening against Sherman.


Cooper struck out 16, walked two and hit a pair of solo home runs as Class A No. 9 Man defeated Sherman 4-0.


Cooper issued a pair of walks to Sherman's Chloe Treadway in the first and fourth inning.


Treadway allowed four runs on six hits, struck out four and walked one in six innings of work in the circle for Sherman.


Cooper's solo home run in the first gave Man a 1-0 lead. Zoey Jackson's two-run home rune, the first of her career, in the fourth gave Man a 3-0 lead and Cooper finished the scoring with her second solo home run in the fifth inning to give the Lady Hillbillies a 4-0 lead.


Jacklynn Barnett, McKinlee Cline and Peyton Lusk each had one hit for Man.


Man (6-3) swept the season series from Sherman (4-9), who has lost four of its last five games.


Man 1, Point Pleasant 0 - Jacklynn Barnett's seventh inning single gave Man a 1-0 walk-off victory over Point Pleasant Tuesday evening at Man.


Barnett's single scored Morgan Cooper, who led off the seventh with a single, advanced to second on a fielding error and moved to third on Mattie Carroll's sacrifice bunt.


Cooper was dominate in the circle for the Lady Hillbillies striking out 17 and allowing four hits in seven innings to pick up the win.


Aubrey Supple suffered the loss after allowing one run on five hits and two strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings for Point Pleasant.


Reece Oliver, Chloie Patrick, Kylie Price and Brynn Roush each had one hit for Point Pleasant (7-6).


Man (5-3) got two hits and a double from Cooper, one hit and one RBI from Barnett, a double from Kylie Blevins and a hit from Carroll.
