Maynard tosses six-inning no-hitter in Logan’s run-rule victory over Sissonville

LOGAN Dawson Maynard tossed a six-inning no-hitter Wednesday to lead Logan to

a 10-0 victory over Sissonville at Roger E. Gertz Field.


Maynard, a junior righthander, struck out 10 and walked none in the contest, which ended after six innings due to the mercy rule.


Maynard also had three hits and drove in one run for the Wildcats.


Logan took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Conner Mullins scored on Korbin Bostic’s triple.


The Wildcats plated two runs in the third inning to increase its advantage to 3-0. Garrett Williamson scored on Aiden Slacks squeeze bunt and Ryan Roberts singled to left to plate William Bryant.


Logan added three runs in the fourth with Williamson delivering a two-run double to plate McCormick Ilderton and Maynard for a 5-0 lead. Williamson would score on Slack’s sacrifice fly to make it 6-0 after four innings.


Maynard’s double in the fifth scored Bostic to give Logan a 7-0 lead.


Logan put the game away with a three-run sixth inning. Jared Burnette started the scoring with a single to center to plate Slack. Chad Burnette scored on a wild pitch to give Logan a 9-0 lead and Bostic’s infield single scored Jared Burnette with the game-ending run.


Williamson had three hits and drove in two runs while Roberts pounded out three hits to go along with one RBI. Bostic had two hits and two RBIs, Jared Burnette added a couple of hits to go along with one RBI and Jake Ramey had two hits for the Wildcats.


Colton Carpenter suffered the loss for Sissonville after allowing three runs on eight hits over 2 2/3 innings with two strikeouts. Eli Simonton tossed two innings of relief allowing four runs on four hits while walking two and striking out two. Stevie Loftis allowed three runs on three hits in one inning of relief. Loftis walked two and struck out one.
