McDowell man gets 22 years for producing child pornography

BLUEFIELD A McDowell County man was sentenced to 22 and one-half years in prison, and 25 years of supervised release, for the production of child pornography.


According to federal court documents, 25-year-old Timothy Edwards, of Yeager, admitted that he engaged in sexual abuse of a 12-year-old girl between April 2020 and February 2021. Moreover, Edwards admitted he produced multiple videos of himself engaged in sexual intercourse with the minor.


Edwards must also register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.


This case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative of the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
