A Mingo County woman is facing charges in connection to the death of a child.

VARNEY The Mingo County Sheriff's Office says 35-year-old Jonda Marie Whitt, of Varney, was arrested on Saturday.


According to records within Mingo County Magistrate Court, she is charged with child neglect by parent, guardian, custodian or person in position of trust causing death and manufacture or possession with intent to deliver a Schedule I or II narcotic or meth.

Court records indicate that Whitt was arraigned in Mingo County Magistrate Court on Sunday before Magistrate Jim Harvey. She is currently being held in lieu of $500,000 cash bond at the Southwestern Regional Jail on charges originating from both Mingo and Boone counties.


No additional details about the child's death have been released.
