Moore, Tigers shutout Red Devils for second straight win

CHAPMANVILLE   Braylon Moore tossed a four-hit shutout and Chapmanville won for the second straight game defeating Oak Hill 7-0 Friday night at Ted Ellis Field.


Moore struck out 10 and walked one in seven innings and helped his own cause at the plate with a run-scoring single.


Joey Canterbury and Andrew Farley each went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Canterbury drove in a run for the Tigers.


After a scoreless first inning, the Tigers scored a run in the first, and three more in the third and fourth innings.


Moore reached safely on an error that allowed Farley to score and give Chapmanville an early 1-0 lead.


The Tigers added to their lead in the third with a trio of runs. Canterbury started the scoring with a double to plate Andrew Topping to extend the lead to 2-0. Canterbury scored on a wild pitch to make it 3-0 and Nate Easterling singled to score Farley for a 4-0 lead after three.


In the bottom of the fourth, Moore singled to score Gunner Lucas extending the lead to 5-0. For the second straight inning, Canterbury scored on a wild pitch giving Chapmanville a 6-0 lead and Corey Johnson's double allowed courtesy runner Kaleb Burford to score for a 7-0 lead.


Saylem Blake, Micah McCarraher, Carter Reid and Trent Rider each had one hit for Oak Hill.


Connor Smith was the losing pitcher after allowing seven runs on nine hits in six innings. He struck out five and walked one.


Easterling and Johnson each had one hit and one RBI for Chapmanville and Lucas and Topping each had one hit.


Oak Hill falls to 5-4 with the loss and will host Spring Valley Tuesday evening.


Chapmanville improved to 2-5 and will travel to Riverside Monday evening.
