More Flooding Expected in Mingo County

According to the National Weather Service, the Tug Fork River in Mingo County—which is already actively flooding—will rise an additional two to three feet by 10:00PM Monday night. Despite the cessation of rainfall, additional moderate flooding is expected. Sections of the river near Kermit and Williamson are, and will continue to be, particularly hazardous. The river is not expected to fall below flood stage in those areas until Tuesday evening. From the NWS: "Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles."
