LOGAN Barb Ellis, a Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist at Mountain Laurel, hosted a special community-focused resource table activity Tuesday in the front lobby of the Mountain Laurel clinic at 3 Mile Curve in Logan.

The event gave community members, patients and visitors the chance to connect with Mountain Laurel’s team and receive materials from Narcan and Narcan training to brochures and educational materials to raise awareness around addiction recovery and the resources out there for someone either on their recovery journey or who knows someone who is.

World Health Day marks the anniversary of the founding of the World Health Organization on April 7, 1948. This year, the group is pushing the importance of scientific advancement in health priorities from diets to water, sanitation, vaccines and medicines, chronic conditions and mental health.

The WHO says its 2026 campaign is calling on governments, scientists, health workers, partners and the public to stand with science by engaging with evidence, facts and science-based guidance to protect health; rebuild trust in science and public health; and support science-led solutions for a healthier future.

The next step in its campaign got underway on Tuesday and goes through Thursday, April 9, in which the organization is bringing in global experts from hundreds of institutions across more than 80 countries for the First Global Forum of WHO Collaborating Centres.
