Murphy drives in five in Lady Tigers 10-5 win at Tug Valley

NAUGATUCK Chloe Murphy hit a three-run home run, had three hits and drove in five runs as Class AA No. 9 Chapmanville defeated Tug Valley 10-5 Thursday night at Panther Mart Park.


Erin Adkins hit a three-run home run and Brooke Christian added two hits and two RBIS for the Lady Tigers (16-5), who won their fifth consecutive game and have won nine of their last 10 games.


Murphy picked up the win in relief after allowing two runs on three hits to go along with 10 strikeouts and one walk in five innings. Tug Valley starting pitcher Kinna Justice suffered the loss after allowing six runs, seven hits and one walk in five innings.


Bailee Hall went 3-for-4 with a home run and had two RBIs and Haleigh Muncy and Jessica Spaulding each had one hit and one RBI for Tug Valley (14-11), who has lost three of its last four after winning nine in a row.


Emma Muncy, Lakin Parks and LaTosha Perry each had two hits with Muncy and Parks each scoring two runs for Chapmanville.
